CMinCR
Nice, descriptive blog entry but it certainly should not be used as guidance for relocation. (Although it is entertaining!) She has not even lived here a year (her friend "...moved here in early 2010, and I followed a year later.") yet the WSJ lends credibility to her writing. She is a "perpetual tourist" (a method of skirting legal residency that is increasingly frowned upon and problematic) who "wants to work as a tour guide" when her Spanish improves (which is patently illegal even for those with legal temporary residency). Such colorful, engaging writings entertain, but lead too many people to leap before they look (or learn Spanish...) With 10 years of planning she failed to learn the requirements and restrictions that first-time posters on this forum are given almost immediately...
