Hi everyone,

We will be here in the Pacific NW this year for Passover, but are thinking about being in CR next Passover. I know that Congregation Bnei Israel does a community seder, but does anyone on this forum know if there are community seders anywhere else in CR? I am mostly a secular Jew, but do like to celebrate holidays. I guess another related question: are things like matzah and gefilte fish to be had in CR around holiday time, or are those items things that must be brought in from the States?

Thank you kindly!

Gayle

There is a large community of Jewish families in Santa Ana right across from the Automercado one of the better supermarket chains in Costa Rica, so I think you should be able to purchase whatever you require, there.

Quite some time ago, there was a discussion about kosher stores in the central valley - there were several named at that time. I don't think it was on this forum, but a google search wouldn't hurt. Once you know about the stores, it's usually a good source of info to just go in and ask about things like seders, etc.

I visited two Jewish delis last year with friends. One is on the road to Pavas, across the street from La Artistica furniture store. The other is in Escazú. Don't remember exactly where, except that we went on the old road from Escazú to Santa Ana. Someone will know. I know you will find what you want/need here.
