ciclista
hello, does anyone know a good place to buy computer software near san jose, Pirated software is widespread in CR. Even if you think you are buying software (in CR) that is covered by Microsoft there's a good chance it won't be. If you can't have someone from the US bring you a copy you might check into eBay, and then shipping to you via DHL or a mail-forwarding service (there are many located in Miami, FL). costaricafinca
Consider this free download, Open Office Works fine.
DanaJ
Pirated software is widespread in CR. Even if you think you are buying software (in CR) that is covered by Microsoft there's a good chance it won't be. A friend got a PC here that was supposed to have a ligit copy of windows on it, it wasn't, it failed the Genuine Advantage validation when he tried to add Windows Security Essentials. I second the Open Office rec.
sectorbets
Most software including MSFT Office can be downloaded from the company's website--no muss, no fuss.
TicoGrande
Almost any computer store will have it BUT, finding it in English is quite difficult but not impossible. If that is no issue, then you will have no probs finding it. The counterfeiting thing is no issue so long as you buy the software in an original package and the disks have the MS hologram. The issue they are referring to is when you buy a PC and the dealer installs MS products for you and you never get the package. I have purchased maybe 15 of them here with no probs. Also, the recommendations to use Open Office is excellent. I NEVER buy Office nor would I ever. OO is excellent and MUCH more secure. You also can save/red in about a zillion formats other than just Windows. TG
