  1. Is there at least one Servientrega in Costa Rica? If so, where in Costa Rica are they located? I couldn't find Costa Rica on their website. Servientrega
  2. Hello, everybody!  I live in Paute, Azuay, Ecuador!

  3. I will be staying in Palmares in April 2010. The place in Palmares where I will be staying has DSL Internet: Rentals Palmares. How well does DSL Internet work for you? Which cities or towns in Costa Rica have broadband (the highest Internet speed)? For those of you who use other forms of Internet, how well does it work for you?

My son (turns 11 in March), a female friend of mine, and I will be visiting San Jose from August 11th to August 22nd. Would like to meet some people on this forum who happen to be in the area. We will be staying at the Apartotel Suites Cristina: http://www.apartotelcristina.com/. Update: My family and I will be living in Ecuador in 2014 but visiting Costa Rica.
  5. Jessica, we will seriously consider renting for more than one month. Thank you for the mathematical calculations for figuring out long term rental prices. If utilities are not included, $2,000 per month. Appreciate the "heads up" on electrical rates.
  6. Beginning in 2012, my family and I plan on staying in Costa Rica for at least one month at a time. We would like references to long term rentals in or near Playa Guiones. We can pay up to $3,000 per month rent if all utilities, etc. are included ($2,000 per month if utilities, etc. are not included). What we would like in a long term rental: air conditioning, high speed Internet, television (nice to have but not necessary), at least 2 bedrooms (and 1 bathroom), near the beach, location where a car is not needed (we would like rent a car because we want to, not because we have to), full kitchen, furnished, and no lease. It will be myself, my husband, our daughter, 20, and our son, 9 (3 adults and 1 child). We don't smoke and we have no pets. I didn't see many long term rentals on the Nosara Beach Rentals website.

    Mother and Daughter Trip

Paul and Diana: I am glad that you enjoyed my photos of my mother and I visiting Costa Rica. I miss Costa Rica already and look forward to returning next year.
  8. My trip to Costa Rica. I met my mother in Costa Rica: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimmickal/.
  9. My son, Kobe (now 8), and I met Ronni at an Applebee's in Las Vegas, Nevada almost two years ago. She was so much fun to be around and we enjoyed her company. We are saddened by her condition. Laura K
  10. expat99, A video of you swearing in as a naturalized citizen of Costa Rica would be really nice. Anyone who wants to be a citizen of Costa Rica better be really sure since they can't changed their mind. Twice the taxes, etc. is no fun. Thank you for the additional information. Laura K
  11. Here is my slogan. What do you think? Residency, Naturalization, and Citizenship: Good for us; good for Costa Rica.
  12. expat99, Thank you for the explanation of "naturalization" and "citizenship". Many people don't want to be citizens because they don't want to be under the jurisdiction of two governments. Keep us posted on whether or not you will apply for naturalization. Laura K
  13. expat99, Congratulations for applying for naturalization. Not easy task. It's great that your children are dual citizens. What are the similarities and differences between naturalization and citizenship? You are very helpful. Laura K
  14. One good way to live in Costa is to check the US Embassy website (the one in Costa Rica) for available jobs. Keep checking. More jobs will appear eventually. Also, you can contact the US Embassy in Costa Rica directly for jobs, too.

http://sanjose.usembassy.gov/jobs.html If this link doesn't work, just copy and paste it to your browsers. It shows what jobs are available now. More j...

  15. expat99, Now I added "naturalization" to my slogan. Appreciate the reminder about Naturalization. Thank you for the update on dual citizenship for Americans. I like both of your slogans. How about combining the two slogans? Citizenship and Naturalization; it's a personal choice or Naturalization and Citizenship; it's a personal choice. You are right. In some cases, citizenship is not a personal choice. Now I understand why Nicaraguans want to be Costa Rican citizens. I am learning a lot from you. Laura K
  16. costaricafinca, it is just for fun. Nothing wrong with having some fun on this forum.
  17. expat99, I changed "you" to "us". The information you gave me is very interesting and fascinating. A while back, I did ask about citizenship for Americans on this forum. I was told that it isn't worth the "hassle" of being under two governments. Also, it is easier for Canadians to have dual citizenship. If you have a slogan, please feel free to share. Laura K
  18. epat99, Thank you for your opinion. I would have said it the way you suggested but I didn't want it to be all about me. I don't want people to think I'm self-centered. Laura K
  19. Where and how do people who are non-residents and non-citizens of Costa Rica receive medical care? Do they use private doctors and hospitals? Is their only option to pay out of pocket?

    T Shirts

ciclista: Saw the Doin' Costa Rica website...it's great. David: The man wearing the Trophy Wife t-shirt: Hilarious! I would love to shop at the Ropa Americana store sometime. costaricafinca: To be on the safe side, I will wait until my family is with me before bringing the t-shirts. rendrag: I'm glad people in Costa Rica have better things to do than worry about what I am wearing.

    T Shirts

I'll be traveling alone to Playa Guiones, Nosara, and Playa Pelada, Costa Rica April 2011. From the USA, I'll be arriving in San Jose Airport and leaving from San Jose Airport (also known as Juan Santamaria Airport). Would it be a good or bad idea to wear my gay rights t-shirts in Costa Rica? Should I leave my gay rights t-shirts home in the USA? Are there places in Costa Rica where I would not be safe wearing my gay rights t-shirts?
  22. Laura K

    T Shirts

rendrag, thank you for the update on the opinions of the people of Costa Rica. eleanorcr, I was considering wearing my t-shirts because I like my t-shirts. This is where I bought my t-shirts: F Hate. I rather have people be indifferent than hostile. ciclista: I will check out the website. Thank you for the gay friendly places.

    Medical Care

Thank you, everyone for your responses. It's good to know that medical, dental care is affordable even if one has to pay out of pocket.
