    Hotel 1492

HI Hotel 1492 or Jade & Oro is a nice small hotel on the eastern side of San Jose. I think it is a 3*** or equivalent hotel. It is on a quiet residential street. What other questions might you have??? If I can assist you with any other questions, please let me know!! Suggestions and Recommendations

HI If you like less humidity in a rather metro setting be sure to check out Santa Ana and the western part of the Central Valley -- you said you will be staying in San Pedro which is on the eastern side of San Jose. ALSO, this is the dry season so most everywhere you go will be dry and less humid!! The ARCR has a wonderful FULL DAY RESIDENTIAL TOUR held on the Saturday following the ARCR's 2 day Moving To and Living In Costa Rica which is held the last Thursday and Friday of the month!! This Seminar and Tour are really a MUST for a person considering a move to Costa Rica or another country!! Enjoy!! Ray

How About Some Help on Travel

HI I can't commercialize here; but check out the prices from America West ((if you live in the western part of the USA)) They are currently running a little over $400 roundtrip with taxes. There are many reasonable hotels that you can enjoy - or, maybe even get an apartment as a headquarters for your stay. If you have any specific questions; please e-mail me directly at rhagist@casacanada.net or rayh@costaricatravelstore.com Enjoy!! Ray
  6. HI! I hate giving advise; but would suggest that you do your research and go slow!! If the business is one that you are ''bringing with you'' that will make it alot easier; if it is a local type of business -- then, again DO YOUR RESEARCH and GO SLOW!! Also, you will need a good - honest attorney!! The ARCR has a number of recommended attorneys that have offices in Casa Canada!! Website wise --- I will 100% recommend the webmaster for ARCR - Tico Grande!!! He has an international web hosting and design business and can provide EXCELLENT web services from Costa Rica!!! Enjoy Costa Rica!! Ray

    Puntarenas Ferry service

HI Forgot to add that the exit tax for tourists is $26.00 payable at the bank in the airport on departure. Or, if you happen to find a Banco Agricola de Cartago ~ you can pay it at any of their offices provided you have your ticket and passport with you. It is much easier for a tourist to pay the tax at the airport on departure. Regards, Ray

    Puntarenas Ferry service

HI In early December you should not have a problem finding a hotel. It may NOT be THE hotel you read about OR the hotel you really wanted to stay in, but you will find a hotel. Legal taxis all have a yellow triangle on the door - but, always negotiate the rate before you get in the taxi or be sure that it has a working meter; called a MARIA in Costa Rica. Regarding size F money belts.........................I bought mine many years ago in a sport luggage store that sold backpacks and hiking goods, etc. I you ever need anything, please give me a call!! Have Fun!! Ray

    Puntarenas Ferry service

The ferry from Puntarenas to Playa Naranjo is for cars and passengers. I called their office and they did not answer. But, the ferry goes about 4 times per day. When travelling by rental car or on foot ALWAYS keep as much of your possessions in the safe at the hotel; when not in the safe I always use a money/security belt for those items I want to protect. Gasoline is now selling for 266 colonies per liter for super or about $0.64 per liter. Mexican food is Mexican food is Mexican food!!! Costa Rican food is nothing like Mexican food!! However, Costa Rica now has many wonderful restaurants with many different ethnic backgrounds!! For Tex-Mex food you can try Tex-Mex in Santa Ana, just west of San Jose!! Hope this helps!! If I can assist you with any other questions, please let me know!! Regards, Ray

    monteverde in may

Dear Helene, May is my number ONE favorite month in Costa Rica!!! Yes, the rains are just starting and the country is 'greening up'. But, the rains are usually only in the late afternoon!!! In Monteverde you will NEED a 4x4 vehicle. Monteverde is a beautiful place to travel to!!! If I can answer any questions, please let me know!! Enjoy!! Ray
  14. HI, Although NOT recommended and NOT advised -- some persons that wish to be in Costa Rica for a extended period of time take short trips every 90 days out side of the country of Costa Rica for a minimum of 72 hour which will renew their tourist visas. At you age, if you fall in love with a Costa Rican national and get married - I believe that qualifies you for residency; and when you have a baby in Costa Rica you are REALLY qualified!! Enjoy your trip and stay in Costa Rica!! Ray

    i need advice, please!

Are you looking for the beach OR the Central Valley??? In the Central Valley there are a number of places that rent in the $300 - $500 range. At the beach more. Another thing to consider is that Costa Rica's high tourist season starts about 1 December and runs until 1 May!! Costs for everything are higher - tourist wise. You will be able to find a cheaper monthly rental in the green season than in the high season. The ARCR usually has posting on the bullentin board of places to stay or rooms to rent!! Good Luck!! If I can assist you with anything coming to Costa Rica; please contact me directly at rayh@costaricatravelstore.com Enjoy!! Ray
